MindMap connects directly to your private Notion workspace. The setup takes about 2 minutes and you only have to do it once.
Step 1: Create the Integration (The Key)
- Go to Notion My Integrations (make sure you are logged in).
- Click + New integration.
- Name: Call it "MindMap".
- Type: Select "Internal" (this keeps it private).
- Click Submit.
- 👀 Copy the "Internal Integration Secret". It starts with
secret_.... You will need to paste this into the extension settings.
Step 2: Prepare Your Database
- Create a new Database in Notion (or use an existing one).
- You MUST rename the columns to match these exactly (Case Sensitive):
- Rename the Title column to:
Concept
- Rename the Tags/Text column to:
Context (Type: Text or Rich Text)
- Add a new property:
URL (Type: URL)
- Add a new property:
Date (Type: Date)
Step 3: Connect Them (Crucial!)
⚠️ Most users forget this step! If you skip this, the extension won't work.
- Go to your Database page.
- Click the ... (three dots) at the very top-right of the Notion window.
- Scroll down to Connections (or "Add connections").
- Search for "MindMap" (the name you gave in Step 1) and click Confirm.
Step 4: Get Your Database ID
To find your Database ID, look at the URL of your Notion page in your browser.
If you use the Notion Desktop App: Click "Share" (top right) → "Copy Link" and paste it into a notepad to see the URL.
